BALTIMORE (AP) - The Baltimore police commissioner has suspended some training academy staff after a campus police trainee was shot in the head by an instructor.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says authorities are continuing to investigate Tuesday's shooting, which occurred during a training exercise in Baltimore County. All training academy operations have also been suspended.

Guglielmi says the investigation is focusing on how the instructor came to discharge live ammunition, though one theory is that he picked up the wrong gun. He says police officials are also trying to figure out who authorized the training session because the location where the shooting occurred is not one of the normal sites used by the department.

The trainee, training for the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus police, remained in critical condition Wednesday.

(NaturalNews) Social networking giant Twitter has released a new report outlining all subpoenaed, court ordered, and search warranted requests made by the U.S. government for private information about the site's users throughout the past year. And based on the figures, not only is the overall number of such requests steadily expanding, but Twitter is also increasingly being coerced into releasing this confidential data without legitimate probable cause or warrant.

During the first and second quarters of 2012, Twitter received a total of 849 requests for information, according to the report, about 80 percent of which came from the U.S. Roughly 12 percent of the requests made during this time came from Japan, while the remaining came from Canada, the U.K. and elsewhere. Overall, Twitter responded to 63 percent of these requests by providing some or all of the information requested, and rejected the other 37 percent.

But during the third and fourth quarters of 2012, the number of requests increased by nearly 20 percent over the previous two quarters. During Q1 and Q2, the U.S. government alone made a total of 679 requests, but during Q3 and Q4 this number jumped to 815 requests, representing a 20 percent increase. And even though Twitter's response rate to these requests decreased slightly from 63 percent to 57 percent between the first and second halves of the year, the figures suggest governments are increasingly seeking user data for internal purposes.

Private information shared with, or tracked by, Twitter could end up in the hands of Big Brother

Twitter has indicated publicly that it tries its best only to divulge information when the law permits. But according to a Wired.com report, the site and many others are sometimes strong-armed by governments into handing over private data without even a probable cause justification. The Patriot Act, for example, and other unconstitutional mandates set forth mostly in the last decade provision that government agencies can gather intelligence apart from constitutional guidelines.

"Last year ... [Twitter] was forced against its wishes to divulge the tweets and account information associated with the account of Malcolm Harris, who was arrested in an October Occupy movement march along the Brooklyn Bridge," writes David Kravets for Wired.com. "Twitter fought for harris, but in the end lost, even though no probable-cause warrant was used by New York state prosecutors."

According to Twitter policy, the company tries to notify users when requests for data occur "unless we are prohibited from doing so by law or in an emergency situation." But in practice, only about 24 percent of the requests made result in users being notified, while the other 76 percent are processed discreetly. Twitter has also indicated that it keeps a detailed and "complex" log of its users' behavior that tracks their every move, information that could also be getting released to government agencies upon request.

Another child is being ostracized  over a situation blown out of proportion. It seems that there will have to be a ban on all imagination and thought within the minds of children. Again, another war to fight imaginary 'bad guys'... If our current government were a human being - a padded room and a really tight jacket would be the best environment. Are they crazy or are we? This "political correctness" has gone to new heights, so far that it needs renaming. Since when is being "Politically Correct" defined as: "anything so far from correct and reasonable that it's downright absurd"..? 

According to Merriam-Webster the word "Politically Correct" is defined as:"conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminate" 

First off: If politics were even remotely "Correct" we would not face the a fraction of the detrimental consequences of their so-called "correct" actions over the course of the last hundred years (just as 1 example). 

Secondly: "Conforming to a belief.." sounds exactly like what Nazi soldiers were doing in WWII... They were simply "conforming to a belief" weren't they? We know now that their motives and reasons were terrible acts against humanity, but if all of these soldiers knew then, what we know now - do you think they would have had a little trouble recruiting soldiers? I believe so. Just because it seems "correct" to you right now, does not mean future generations will cast your name with disgust and hatred, just as many do now when they even hear mention of Nazis or Hitler.

How in the world can we sit idle while losing our freedoms, families, and livelihoods to a government that is so far from being saved and has become quite 'mentally unfit' to be our parent anymore? Where is the line in the sand folks?

NYPD looking to deploy naked body scanners on street corners as part of gun control roll-out

(NaturalNews) It's not enough that the state of New York just doubled down on its trashing of the Second Amendment with the passage of new gun control laws. Now the city of New York, with its gun-grabbing mayor, is set to deploy revealing new x-ray scanners that will violate residents' Fourth Amendment right to privacy to ensure they're not taking advantage of their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.


According to local media reports, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said his force is currently testing the new technology, which is designed to hone in on guns without using the department's well-established "stop-and-frisk" procedure. Now, not only will suspected criminals be targeted, but so will the vast majority of law-abiding New Yorkers who, once again, are going to be presumed guilty until proven innocent.

The New York Daily News said the department recently took delivery of a machine that reads terahertz, the "natural energy emitted by people and inanimate objects," which "allows police to view conceal weapons from a distance."

"If something is obstructing the flow of that radiation, for example a weapon, the device will highlight that object," Kelly told reporters.

Fear of false positives

Civil libertarians have plenty to be upset about. So do ordinary New Yorkers.

A video image that was shown at a Police Foundation breakfast in early January showed a police officer, who was dressed in a New York Jets NFL jersey and blue jeans, with the shape of a gun outlined clearly beneath his clothing, when he was observed through the device.

Kelly says street testing of the device is underway. He said the device is small enough to be put in a police cruiser or set up on a street corner "where gunplay has occurred in the past," the Daily News said.

Plans to use the revealing device were in play before the state's latest round of radical new gun control legislation was passed, apparently. The police chief said his department has been working with London Metropolitan Police officials and a contractor "to develop a tool that meets our requirements."

Apparently, a constitutional lawyer isn't on the advisory team.

"We took delivery of it last week," Kelly said Jan. 25 at the gathering at the Waldorf Astoria. "One of our requirements was that the technology must be portable."

He added: "We still have a number of trials to run before we can determine how best to deploy this technology. We're also talking to our legal staff about this. But we're very pleased with the progress we've made over the past year."

So far, the city and the department has blown off concerns about potential privacy violations made by the New York Civil Liberties Union, which has expressed diffidence over the "virtual pat downs" that will no doubt occur.

Others, including some security experts, say the device will unquestionably lead to false positives and, in turn, stop-and-frisks that are not justified.

All of this comes on top of new gun control measures that were passed and signed into law so quickly by the state legislature and Gov. Andrew Cuomo that the process was a violation of the state Constitution's three-day waiting period before laws are voted on.

"When you rush a bill through, you can't have committee hearings in which you learn from experts. You don't allow for proper debate. You don't allow for possible amendments that would refine and strengthen a bill," Kieran Lalor wrote in an op-ed for the Daily News.

The columnist also decried other absurdities in the law, like the fact that it was passed so quickly power-mad supporters of the measure forgot to exempt police officers from the requirement that gun magazines be limited to seven bullets, and that criminals aren't going to pay much attention to that requirement.

Voting with their feet

New York City is unique and there are many opportunities there that don't exist elsewhere. But like so many megatropolises in the U.S., NYC is becoming a bastion of tyranny, whose residents elect leaders like Mayor Michael Bloomberg so they can regulate soft drinks and ban the sale of alcohol, trans fats, salt, guns and anything else he deems inappropriate (because all government agencies are run by like-minded zealots).

Despite the opportunities, residents are leaving over-taxed, over-regulated domains for islands of freedom. So far, that right still exists: If you don't like your current political and socioeconomic environment, vote with your feet.

Trying To Reform Government Is Largely a Waste of Time

Whenever I speak or write about California’s pension and public debt problems, I always hear from well-intentioned, conservative- and libertarian-minded people who want me to consider their solutions. Most of their ideas – caps on this kind of spending or that, changed pension formulas, public votes, etc. – are sensible enough, but they always miss the main point.

That is, they misunderstand the nature of government. They think that government is an institution that does all these necessary things and can therefore be reformed. But government is a vast force-based enterprise designed to take as much money from the public and give as much of it as possible to the clients of government. It’s a wealth transfer and any genuine services government provides can be done better, cheaper and more humanely in the private sector.

When it comes to pensions, there’s no technical problem. In about three seconds, I can craft a non-radical, extremely modest plan that ends unfunded pension liabilities. Starting tomorrow, public employees no longer receive defined-benefit plans and instead get a 401/k-style plan like typical private-sector serfs. What are they going to do, quit en masse and get private-sector jobs? I hear readers laughing now.

Problem solved. The real problem, though, is not technical, but political. The public-sector unions that run this state, and the Democrats and Republicans who do their bidding, would never allow it. As it is, they fight any tiny reform, even for future workers. So why waste any brain cells thinking about big fixes in a state government where legislators not only resist modest reforms but still hatch schemes to expand benefit levels for the elite class of government employees?

Remember -- the main goal of government is to get more for them. California's Democrats argue publicly that the public pension system is a historic success and that the real problem is the stinginess of the private sector. We have to understand this mindset.

In my experience, the average reform-minded person thinks that legislators and even some government employees will come to support sensible reforms when they realize that we’re only trying to rein in excesses. They think government should operate more like a business.

They think that if we convince enough people about the waste and abuse, they will rally behind our measures and proposals. After all, the current situation is unsustainable and our reforms will save the government from itself. They are as wrong as they are well intentioned.

The truth is government is like rust. It never sleeps. Government grows for its own sake and it has no intention to stay limited. Every bureaucracy, once taken root, will grow as long as someone feeds it.

Whereas private companies celebrate when they spend less to achieve more, government values the opposite things. Have you ever noticed how government always measures its success in terms of how much money it spends? It’s impossible to give government agencies enough money for anything. The more poorly they spend existing money, the better opportunity they have to clamor for more cash: "We never had enough to do the job right in the first place."

When asked once what he ultimately wanted, a union official replied: "More." That’s what it’s all about. Unions would rather drive the entire economy over the cliff and bankrupt a city or state than give up anything. Government has no bottom line, no customers and cannot be run like a business. Government operates by force and as a result doesn’t care how unhappy the public is with its services. You don’t like the IRS or local cops, what are you going to do about it? Any business with that attitude would, in the adapted words of Monty Python, be an "ex-business" because no one would go there. Government only has to take your taxes.

Every private-sector job depends on willing buyers and willing sellers. Obviously, people who value free exchange head to the private sector, and the government sector is a magnet for those who operate in an authoritarian kind of world. It’s therefore not surprising when government agencies send out press releases celebrating the huge fines they impose on businesses, as does the California Air Resources Board. It's understandable why Democratic leaders in Sacramento, for instance, drip with disdain toward the private sector.

One could argue that every dollar given to government would be better put inside an incinerator. Have you ever known an incinerator to abuse someone’s property rights? Do you know any incinerators that get "3 percent at 50" pensions? Likewise, any effort to reform government is filled with problems. Would you want an IRS that did a better job tracking and monitoring us?

I honestly don’t know what we do about the frightening growth in government power, but I do agree with H.L. Mencken, who wrote: "I believe that all government is evil, and that trying to improve it is largely a waste of time." Don’t get me wrong – I appreciate the people who want to fix the current system, but they need to remember that government needs to be stifled rather than reformed.

Police state gone wild: Couple facing 60 days in jail for rescuing injured baby deer

(NaturalNews) An Indiana couple saved a wounded baby deer and nursed it back to life, saving its life and giving it a home. They named it "Little Orphan Dani." When Indiana state officials got word of this courageous act of compassion, they ordered the deer euthanized. (Because government wants to kill everything you love.)

When the deer "escaped" right before it was schedule to be killed -- and yes, I think the couple probably set it free rather than have it killed -- the man and woman were charged with unlawful possession of a deer.

They now face $2,000 in fines and 60 days in jail.

This is yet another example of the government police state gone wild, and it's on top of seemingly countless other stories of similar police state insanity such as armed government raids on raw milk distributors.

Who wants to kill the deer and imprison the couple? The DNR

The bastard a@#holes behind this action are, predictably, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is the same name as the department in Michigan that forced small farmers in that state to murder their own baby pigs.

What we are seeing today across America, both at the state and federal levels, is big government gone BAD, ignoring the real criminals at the top while threatening, fining and imprisoning the "little people" who are only trying to do the right thing.

Recent examples:

Michigan gardener Julie Bass was threatened with jail time for teaching her young son gardening skills in a home garden planted in her front yard.

A woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma had her medicinal garden destroyed by thuggish government "officials" who waited until she was gone before gutting her entire plot of edible herbs.

James Stewart, the California "raw milk man," was subjected to unbelievable jail torture in LA county for the "crime" of distributing fresh farm milk to happy customers. His "Rawesome Foods" was hit with an armed multi-agency government raid during which $50,000 in fresh eggs, milk, fruit and meat was confiscated and then destroyed. As he was held in jail in LA county, he was subjected to starvation, hypothermia and having his jail cell intentionally flooded with raw human feces as punishment.

These are just a few of the many examples of the government police state gone mad in America. There are many more for anyone who dares to look.

Government has become too large, too powerful, too arrogant and too dangerous

The big picture in all this? America's current government is a grave danger to America herself. We are living under increasing tyranny, total government surveillance of our emails, texts and phone calls, and selective enforcement of laws in order to punish the little people while the powerful elite run free.

As an example of that, New York Mayor Bloomberg insists that everyone in New York should be stripped of all their firearms, but he walks around with five armed goons who intimidate journalists for daring to ask questions about Bloomberg's outrageous hypocrisy.

America is being divided into the "privileged" class versus the working class. The privileged elite are immune to virtually all prosecution of existing laws while the working class are subjected to every nit-picking technical violation of every law imaginable. Nearly every person alive today commits three felonies a day without even knowing it. In fact, that's the title of an eye-opening book by Harvey Silverglate.

As the book's description states:

The average professional in this country wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes home, eats dinner, and then goes to sleep, unaware that he or she has likely committed several federal crimes that day. All government operates with the threat of violence against us all

Remember: All government operates at the end of a gun. Government achieves compliance solely by the threat of violence against the People. This is what is brilliantly revealed by Lew Rockwell and other intelligent critics of big government.

The reason government wants all Americans disarmed right now is because it wants a monopoly of violence that can be used against people to destroy their home gardens, criminalize saving animals, mandate forced vaccines, shut down medicinal herb companies and routinely terrorize the people. Even while the government wants us all to be disarmed, it is buying up thousands of full-auto assault rifles as well as over a billion rounds of ammunition to be used domestically, inside the USA.

Have you figured it out yet? There is no Al-Quaeda. There is no Bin Laden. The real terrorists are power-hungry government berserkers within our own government, and they will stop at nothing to usurp power and enslave the masses.

I've been shouting this for years, and with each astonishing transgression of this liberty-crushing government, more and more people are waking up. Every time the government threatens another innocent gardener, parent or animal rescue person with imprisonment, tens of thousands of people hear about it and wake up to the reality that government in America has gone rogue. It no longer serves the People. Instead, it considers the People to be its enemy, and it is dedicated to crushing the People.

It's time we put government in its place. It's time we took a stand for all the innocent victims of the terrorist government currently running things in this country. It's time we stopped the government bailouts to rich, wealthy banksters and the criminalization of routine human activities like saving wounded animals or growing home gardens.

How do we get away with calling a piece of shit, a rose? I really cannot understand how the government redefines the rules and definitions of words, like we can't see through the half-ass cheese cloth they think they are veiling our eyes with.
